Gardening For Birds and Wildlife

Elements to include in a habitat garden:

Food

  • Native plants that provide food for birds, and small animals
  • Berries and other Fruit
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Bird Feeders

Water

  • A necessity for all birds and mammals
  • Birdbath, Fresh Water!
  • Small Pond
  • Water Fall with or without a pond
  • Water puddles over stones, trickling hoses

Cover

  • Shelter to hide the nests and living spaces for birds and animals
  • Dense and twiggy shrubs
  • Fallen logs
  • Brush piles
  • Areas where fallen leaves remain
  • Uncut edges of lawn area where grass and wildflowers can seed themselves
  • Bird Houses
