Shai is Editor of The Kingbird, the quarterly publication of the New York State Ornithological Association; co-compiler of bird records for the New York City and Long Island region; Chair of the Rhode Island Avian Records Committee; and co-compiler of three Christmas Bird Counts on Long Island and Rhode Island.

| | Why Go to Antarctica? | | Location: TBA | | Friday, November 12, 2010, 7:30 PM | Join former NFAS president Bev Prentice for an evening of exploration in Antarctica, which she visited in January, 2010. In addition to whales, seals and icebergs, Bev saw 67 species of "life birds" in 19 days on board the 200 foot ship, the Plancius, a former research vessel now outfitted to accommodate 100 adventurous souls eager to visit the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic Peninsula. Armed with her trusty "point and shoot" camera, Bev managed to capture some remarkably good photographs during her trip, which she will share with us throughout the course of the evening.
